Says 'Hello'
I was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and lived there until I moved to Wantage, in Oxfordshire, at the age of 13 where I completed my education before training to be an orthopaedic nurse in Oxford. I married and had two children, John and Charlotte (Charlie), both of whom I am very proud even though they now make me feel very old as they are both in their 30's!! Paul and I married in 1999 and I gained 5 step-daughters!! We now have 12 grandchildren between us but that number will have grown to 15 by January, as 3 of Paul's daughters are currently expecting babies!!! We also have 2 adored little Shih-Tzu's, Sophie and Pippa. I trained and was licensed as a Reader with the Church in Wales in 2004, whilst in the neighbouring parish of Mathern, Mounton & St Pierre, eventually moving on to train for ordination at St Michael's Theological College in Cardiff. I am continuing to study in order to complete my degree this academic year. The rest, as they say, is history!!!
God Bless
Annie

Spiritual Journey June 2009
at St Mary's Church Portskewett
It has always been a great pleasure to work with Primary Schools and last week was no exception. A.R.W. School really embraced the latest Spiritual Journey, called a ‘Stairway to Heaven’, which is based on the Beatitudes found in Matthew’s Gospel Chapter 5.
This journey is about what Jesus meant when he gave us his greatest sermon, known as the Sermon on the Mount.Jesus went up a hill near a town called Capernaum. There he sat down and told his followers about the Beatitudes or Blessings. The word "beatitude" comes from a Latin word that means blessed or happy. Each beatitude begins with the word ‘blessed’ and they are intended to help us to understand how we should behave, how we should treat other people and how we should care for the earth. They should also help us to pray for ourselves, the people we love and for our world too.
This journey has been designed and written for all ages being developed on two levels, ages 7-11 and 11 to 111.
The Church was open for people to do the journey, from Tuesday to Friday 2.30-4.30 p.m. and on Thursday evening 6.00 8.00p.m.
These journeys are now being used in many other countries and continents. People get so much teaching and comfort from them, on so many levels.
The Festival was hosted by the Caldicot and Portskewett Branches of the Mothers’ Union and after the service, there were light refreshments served in the church hall.
The Archbishop Rowan Williams V.A. Church in Wales Primary School, Portskewett, celebrate thier end of term Easter Eucharist with Fr Lyndon
They were also joined by Pastor Jim, of Elim Pentacostal Church Caldicot, who was presenting an item to be televised on the 'Faith in Monmouthshire' programme on the internet service of MONTV.
The ‘Churches Together’ open air service for Good Friday, was preceded by a wooden cross being carried in procession from St Mary’s Church, Caldicot to the Town Centre. The service was held in the pedestrian precinct outside of the Caldicot Methodist Church.
People gathered at St Mary's Church Caldicot, ready to start a candle lit procession to Caldicot Castle for the 'Churches Together', (All Christian religions of Caldicot), Carol Service.
Candles were readied in the Church porch to be distrubuted to people as they left to walk through the Lych Gate and into the Castle Grounds.
The procession was led by Bishop Dominic, Fr Lyndon and the Caldicot Town Mayor, Dave Evans. Leaders of other Churches awaited the procession in the Castle Grounds.
On arrival at the Castle, mince pies and mulled wine helped warm everyone ready for the start of the service. People then gathered for the service to start. Cameras from Mon TV were there to help record the event. The service include Carols and Readings and a short talk by Bishop Dominic, Bishop of Monmouth.
Members from all three Churches of the Rectorial Benefice were there.
