That there was a church here before 915, dedicated to S Bride, is indicated by LIBER LANDAVENSIS when it records the grant by King Brockwael to Bishop Cyfeiliawg of ECCLESIAM CASTELL CONSCUIT & ECCLESIAM BRIDGIDE
c. 1200A Charter of King John referred to a gift by Henry de Bohun to the church of Caldicot between 1199 and 1216.
By 1254The Parish had been appropriated to Llantony Secunda Priory, Gloucester.
